The University of Wolverhampton is employing a converged communications system in a bid to boost the quality of its education provision.
As part of a £60 million, seven-year project to create a truly modern educational facility, three separate campuses are to be connected via a broadband network offering
VoIP services throughout, reports PublicTechnology.net.
These plans were formulated as university officials aimed to make Wolverhampton the premiere higher educational facility in the region.
Dr Phil Range, the University of Wolverhampton's director of IT services, expressed his hope that the facility would become "a learning environment fit for the 21st century".
"The University of Wolverhampton is committed to excellence in its teaching, research and business activities," he told the publication.
More than 1,000 international students attend the university each year, who may benefit from the
VoIP services available via the broadband network to make
cheap international calls to friends and family in their native countries.
