Broadband 'to be improved in Scotland'

Broadband 'to be improved in Scotland'The Scottish government has launched a new scheme with the intention of improving broadband internet access.

A procurement service has been instigated by the government with the intention of finding providers to deliver the solutions, the Press Association said.

People in remote areas continue to have accessibility difficulties, the government claimed, despite 99 per cent availability in the country.

Enterprise minister Jim Mather stated that broadband is a much-needed tool in the modern world.

"In this 21st century, broadband is an increasingly vital tool for business and is now used by more and more households as a standard utility," he commented.

Vonage is the world's leading broadband phone company, with more than 2.4 million customers. Moreover, joining a VoIP provider like Vonage is simple, all that is needed is a broadband connection and a touch tone phone.

Those that have problems should inform the government by the end of the year, according to ZDNet.co.uk.ADNFCR-1208-ID-18308738-ADNFCR
