'Explosion' of mobile broadband

'Explosion' of mobile broadbandThe mobile broadband market is likely to explode in the coming years, one industry expert has claimed.

Principal analyst at Informa Telecoms & Media Mike Roberts stated as part of a report that High-Speed Packet Access will grow, as will 1x Evolution Data Optimised services plus mobile Wi-Max, reports the technology publication vnunet.com.

"Mobile broadband is already a significant market but will explode in the next five years as networks, devices and services mature and spark mass-market adoption," he argued.

He added that such broadband services will have a radical impact on the mobile sector in much the same way that fixed-line services were altered with the transition from dial-up to broadband.

In related news, the Consumer Panel chairman at Ofcom Colette Bowe recently had to write to service providers to ask them to be clearer regarding dial-up speeds.

Currently, there are broadband services available, such as that from Vonage, the world's leading company in the field.

Low cost calls can be provided with the routing of calls over an existing broadband connection.ADNFCR-1208-ID-18317402-ADNFCR
