Pressure builds on ISPs

Pressure builds on ISPs Internet service providers (ISPs) are under an increasing amount of pressure to be up-front about the level of broadband provision supplied to Britons.

A spokesperson for the Crystal Clear Broadband Campaign, which was launched by Computeractive Magazine, praised the action taken by Ofcom in addressing the matter, reports Publictechnology.net.

In addition to web access, broadband enables Britons to take advantage of a wide range of services, including VoIP products and IP television.

Paul Allen, editor of Computeractive, commented: "Our petition on the 10 Downing Street website continues to gather support, and is now one of the 25 largest petitions on the site."

In addition, Computeractive recently announced that broadband operator O2 has backed the campaign to provide better information regarding the service.

Once consumers have a broadband connection in place, Vonage offers a better telephone service for less by charging a low-cost, fixed monthly fee which provides unlimited calling to the UK and around the world.
