![Virgin trials boosted broadband]()
Broadband speeds for Virgin customers in Folkestone, Ashford and Dover have been boosted by the internet service provider in an attempt to attract more customers.
The firm is embattled having lost large numbers of customers to rivals including Sky and BT, but the pilot scheme offering broadband speeds of up to 50 megabits per second may win back their supporters.
While web-based services such as online video and internet gaming are set to benefit from the extra bandwidth, the speed boost will also ensure stronger, clearer and reliable connections when making calls over the internet using a
VoIP phone such as the
Vonage V-Phone.
Having a faster connection allows more information to be sent though the broadband lines, allowing a better call quality than with slower connections which run the risk of being clogged up and failing.
While the growth of broadband around the country means that services are much more reliable than even a year ago, users of products such as the V-Phone will likely enjoy knowing that their
VoIP calls are extra safe and secure with a faster broadband connection.
Joining a VoIP provider like Vonage is simple. All that is needed is a broadband connection and a touch tone phone.
