Broadband speeds advertised by internet service providers (ISPs) could bear greater reflection to what customers actually receive in the future, it has been suggested.
According to the IT website Web User, regulations will be brought in by Ofcom this year to make sure that customers get what they pay for.
"As a result, advertising will cease to focus so much on how fast a service is, but the quality of the different elements of the service. We'll see more bundled services and hopefully, lower prices," the website said.
These changes should let more people realise what speed of broadband they receive and help them choose to upgrade or switch if they are not satisfied.
A reliable, good quality broadband line is required for consumers wishing to make savings on their telephone bills with Vonage.
Using the internet telephony service, unlimited voice calls can be made to anywhere in the UK and Ireland for £5.99 a month.
