Growing numbers of companies are exploring the benefits of internet telephony (VoIP) as they seek to improve their productivity and save money, it has been reported.
As well as reducing call costs, firms can often boost their flexibility through
VoIP since it increases the ability for employees to work from home.
According to a Research and Markets report, multinational firms are leading the way at the cutting edge of
VoIP.
However, it was noted that now small businesses are showing willingness to embrace internet calls.
"VoIP has become mainstream and customers of all kinds are deploying hosted and managed VoIP services to make their voice networks more flexible and solve their business communications problems," said Margaret Hopkins, principal analyst with Exegesys and the author of the Research and Markets study.
Savings offered by Vonage voice plans can spread across international borders, as businesses could call clients in up to 25 countries an unlimited number of times without incurring any higher costs than the fixed £9.99 monthly fee.
