Virgin Media has regained the top spot in the provision of high speed broadband services, according to a new poll.
The Broadband Choices speed reliability test found that Virgin Media supplies its customers with average speeds of 11Mbits per second, allowing them to take advantage of bandwidth heavy content such as online videos, as well as less demanding services such as
VoIP.
To compile the list, both speeds and accessibility were taken into account, with Virgin Media providing 55.1 per cent of its customers with the advertised speeds.
In its monthly poll, the price comparison site found that AOL provided users with the second-fastest service, with 41.8 per cent of customers receiving headline speeds. Orange trailed close behind with 41.6 per cent.
Be Broadband was found to supply the fastest service, with 20.9Mbits per second offered, although only a third of its customers were found to achieve this speed.
Thinkbroadband also allows users to check their internet speeds online, as well as enabling visitors to rate their provider online to help consumers make an informed decision.
UK residents can use their broadband connections to make
cheap calls throughout the UK using Vonage's
