VoIP is set to become a vital tool in the human resources armoury, it has been suggested.
As flexible working becomes an increasingly important part of most workplace environments, the need for businesses to keep in touch with their employees is growing all the time and now
business VoIP could provide the solution.
Research carried out by Dimension Data has found that companies are increasingly tapping into the potential of unified communications to help deliver greater employee productivity as well as job satisfaction.
Rob Lopez, managing director at Dimension Data, said many firms would like to offer VoIP,
soft phone or similar technologies, "indicating that these technologies are very much a future focus of enterprise flexible working and convergent communication strategies".
He said employees are "under no illusion" that firms want to increase productivity through deploying "ubiquitous communication tools and flexi-work initiatives".
"Nevertheless, they are not overly cynical and adopt flexi-work readily as a result of the perceived personal gain," Mr Lopez concluded.
A report by first direct earlier this year stated that a third of the country's 30 million employees work outside traditional office hours something that is becoming increasingly manageable through the use of technology such as VoIP.
