NGH: Homeworkers offer higher productivity

NGH: Homeworkers offer higher productivityIt is a "well established and commonly accepted" fact that workers operating from home are more productive than their office-based counterparts, it is claimed.

According to a spokesperson for the National Group on Homeworking (NGH), using such employees can also give a business the advantage of accessing a larger range of skills.

This is because many workers, including those with children, require a greater degree of flexibility if they are to fully interact with a business, said Nesta Holden.

"A lot of people want to work from home because of the flexibility; it's a way of fitting your work around your life," she remarked.

The growth of technologies such as broadband and VoIP connectivity has led to homeworking becoming increasingly simple for firms to enable. VoIP allows satellite employees to make free or very cheap calls to a central location, cutting down on overheads.

Work Wise UK, which advocates flexible working, recently claimed that UK companies are behind those in Europe regarding the provision of such opportunities.
