VoIP 'better than landline'

VoIP 'better than landline'VoIP services are often more competitively priced and feature a wider range of options than traditional fixed-line telephony, it has been claimed.

Writing for industry publication Tech Republic, expert Deb Shinder said that VoIP connectivity has improved a great deal in recent times, currently offering better services than its competitors.

VoIP is now recognised as providing "services that offer many more features than a typical landline at a much lower price - with high enough reliability to enable many of its users to cut the landline cord altogether", she wrote.

Ms Shinder, a technology consultant and author of a number of books relating to networking and security, also noted that some mobile phone operators can charge a great deal more for international calls than their VoIP counterparts.

This year she was presented with her third consecutive award of Most Valuable Professional from Microsoft in the Server Systems security category.
