Bundled broadband, phone and TV packages are driving growth in the broadband market in the UK and Europe, a new study has suggested.
According to the Frost & Sullivan report, the EU broadband market has experienced significant growth, with a relaxation of regulatory frameworks said to have contributed significantly to increased competition.
"The growing demand for highly customised broadband-based services is also a major growth factor, as customers are willing to pay a little extra for high-quality broadband services such as video on demand and pay-per-view TV," the report summary notes.
DSL broadband technology is still the dominant technology in the provision of broadband services, although high-bandwidth usage habits were attributed to a growing uptake of other ultra-fast services such as fibre-based technologies.
The report follows the publication of the European Commission's annual ICT progress report, which found that 250 million people in the EU regularly use internet services.
