Small companies are most likely to make a decision based on reliability when choosing their internet service provider, according to a new survey.
Research by UK Online found that a reliable connection is prized as the most important factor by the nation's small business owners and sole traders, beating other considerations such as speed and price, vnunet.com reports.
With quality of service voted the second most important aspect of an internet provider, the survey suggests that small businesses are most concerned with ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of their online operations.
"Despite recent reports in the media, broadband speed is not necessarily topping UK consumers' list of concerns," said managing director of UK Online Chris Stening.
"This is particularly true for business users, who have different priorities when it comes to their internet connection," he added.
In contrast, a study by Broadband Choices recently stated that faster internet connections can benefit small businesses by significantly boosting the productivity of remote and home workers.
