Increasing numbers of tourists are expected to take a trip by coach rather than traipse through long queues at airports this summer, according to the Coach Tourism Council (CTC).
Recent worries about possible confusion this summer over baggage allowances and checks may cause havoc at airports this summer, which could drive more people onto the roads if they are planning a fairly local trip.
A CTC spokesman suggested there will be "a reasonable amount of growth in the UK market" thanks to concerns over possible delays, as well as worries about causing damage to the environment.
But he was keen to highlight the cost benefits of travelling by coach, noting that "one thing about coach travel is that it has always offered good value for money and prices are very competitive".
And the spokesman added that there are very few extra costs that are involved in a coach trip after the first booking fee, which makes it an easier excursion to budget for.
Wherever holidaymakers choose to travel by coach, it is likely to be covered by
Vonage's internet phone services - allowing free calls to be made back home to loved ones.
Call plans covering the UK and Ireland start at just £5.99 a month for unlimited free calls, while those taking a coach trip to the continent could keep in touch using
V-Plan 2 which covers many popular European destinations including France, Spain, Germany and Italy for £7.99 a month.
