BT mobile users 'at all time low'

BT mobile users 'at all time low'The number of people using BT's mobile phone services is at an all time low, according to the Times.

New trading figures show that there are currently just 86,000 people currently using the company's mobile services, the lowest quarterly results since performance figures were first collated in 2004-05.

Ben Verwaayen, chief executive for BT, has argued that the company will reassert its claim in the mobile market by developing a new commercial strategy.

The company is also seeing a falling number of subscriptions to land line services, according to recent figures from industry watchdog Ofcom.

Many people are finding that mobiles - as well as VoIP services - provide an effective alternative to fixed line packages, the Times reports.

It is thought that BT will try to use its existing WiFi networks to encourage people to adopt mobile VoIP services.

The company today announced the winner of a competition designed to encourage the uptake of wireless mobile phone devices.
