After a number of BT business customers in the Burton area complained to the local council about a lack of broadband service, residents are being encouraged to get involved in a debate about the provision of internet services.
South Derbyshire district council has invited people to air their views about problems with internet access, which the overview and scrutiny committee will then challenge BT with directly, the Burton Mail reports.
Committee vice-chairman Charles Jones said: "From talking to BT it seems that they aren't aware of any problems with broadband access in our district."
He added that until the company is made aware of access problems, the situation will not be improved.
A large number of people in the south Derbyshire area are believed to be affected, with customers using services other than those provided by BT also encouraged to contribute to the debate.
The deadline for contacting the council comes on May 31st.
