Broadband Expert reveals mobile upload speeds

Broadband Expert reveals mobile upload speedsResearch conducted by internet industry analyst Broadband Expert reveals the average upload speed available via mobile connections in the UK.

Upload speeds were found to be lower than download speeds, with an average rate of 1.46 Mbps detected for downloading data.

"The average upload speed for all providers was registered as 0.38 Mbps," Broadband Expert advises.

"Upload speed describes the speed that data can be transmitted back to the internet and is important for VoIP."

The figure was calculated following speed tests of 1,213 mobile broadband connections over the course of February and March 2008.

However, some of those surveyed were not on the fastest deal available from their internet service provider, meaning a greater upload rate may have been possible.

With a rise in popularity, though, Broadband Expert recently noted a corresponding rise in sales targets for employees at communications retailer Phones 4U.

Employees have recently had their monthly quotas doubled to a goal of 50 mobile broadband sales per month.

Those hoping to increase the speed of their mobile connection might look to save money elsewhere to spend on a faster internet package.

Vonage offers a low cost alternative to traditional fixed telephone line providers, by routing calls over an existing broadband connection.ADNFCR-1208-ID-18574893-ADNFCR
