Implementing
VoIP equipment can lead to reduced operation costs for business entities, one industry expert has claimed.
Paul Fegan, the leader of the Billing and Information Management Forum at the Communications Management System, said that such technology makes sound business sense.
The expert noted that the key advantage of
VoIP is that it operates over a broadband connection, making it very different from other connectivity options.
"It makes real sense operationally and commercially for many businesses," he explained.
And when quizzed about the expense of implementing such a system, he said: "It will often save money and reduce cost, not increase it."
Additionally, Mr Fegan noted that the technology has flexibility and controllability that make it stand out from other telephony systems, not just the promise of
cheap calls.
Figures from UK telecoms regulator Ofcom show that VoIP is increasingly popular, with the service predicted to grow in take-up.
