Some businesses believe that a lack of internal skills are preventing them from implementing
VoIP technology, it has been suggested.
Although some
VoIP services require little internal management, this, along with the fear of high outlay costs, is leading some companies to shy away from such advancements, said an expert.
Alan Poole, the chief executive of Integ, told SearchVoIP: "The significant initial investment coupled with lack of internal skills required to manage these solutions have proven barriers to deployment."
Integ has recently launched a new fixed-price VoIP service in Australia powered by Alcatel-Lucent.
This offering, along with those of other providers such as
Vonage UK, offer connectivity with start-up packages that enable businesses to take advantage of VoIP with a fixed monthly rate.
Vonage's Small Business Unlimited deal also offers cheap international calls and companies can sign up to it provided they have an existing broadband connection - circumventing the need for costly upgrades in-house.
