Although some VoIP systems require an initial outlay on the part of organisations, the cost savings they offer mean that the investment is worthwhile, an expert has claimed.

Zeus Kerravala, the manager of infrastructure research and consulting at the Yankee Group, said that the intelligent deployment of VoIP telephony can result in "significant payback" for an organisation.
