VoIP quality 'getting better'

VoIP quality 'getting better'The quality of VoIP is improving all the time, according to a new report released by Keynote Systems.

A number of factors were examined during the survey, such as the number of calls that are completed, plus the level of service that is available, reports PC World.

In a change from previous studies, the research focused on hard VoIP services, rather than the ones that are performed via a computer.

VoIP product manager at Keynote Rajeev Kutty stated that more could still be done.

"Our key finding here is that there has been significant improvement for VOIP services, but there is still a difference in terms of quality of calls," he commented to the paper.

The new study was carried out on a number of calls between New York and San Francisco.

On way to enjoy VoIP already is by using the Vonage V-Phone. Small enough to fit onto a keyring, it acts like a landline when plugged into the USB port of a PC with broadband.
