Coventry city council has instigated a new programme in an attempt to boost broadband accessibility and coverage across the city.
After the improvements to its wide area network are completed, officials hope that both residents and students will get enhanced internet connection speeds.
On top of this, bus passengers on certain routes will be able to see up to do date information on journeys displayed on new signs.
The leader of Coventry city council, councillor Ken Taylor, exclaimed that he wants the city to stand at the pinnacle of fresh technology, which is to be created by a local firm Optilan.
"We'll have one of the best IT networks across the country, improving connections for schools, providing a more resilient network and a traffic management system that will keep everyone moving," he commented.
This week, the government in South Africa agreed to the Infraco Bill, which it hopes will decrease broadband costs in the country.
A number of cheap broadband services are currently available from
Vonage, a leader in the field.
Setting up an account with the firm is simple. It takes minutes to instigate and start making
low-cost calls, using an existing broadband connection and a touch-tone telephone.
