The recent upgrade to the Eurostar line between London and Paris will boost the housing market in areas of northern France, it has been suggested.
According to independent property consultant Cluttons, the improved access to London will see the UK's capital suburbs encroach onto the continent.
"The London suburbs will grow over the channel for definite. It will make sense for some people to commute to London from northern France," said Cluttons spokesperson Olivier Morvan.
"You're not very much further from London living in Brittany than living in some places in the south of England that are not connected to the Eurostar. You might as well be living in France where it's a bit cheaper."
Mr Morvan added that working in France but commuting to London is now "quite easy" thanks to improvements with remote working technologies.
