Lack of savings culture 'could lead to future problems'

Lack of savings culture 'could lead to future problems'Young people have been called upon to take greater care over their finances by reducing their outgoings and putting some money away each month.

With UK debt at monumental levels and increasing at nearly ten per cent year-on-year, financial advisory firm Baronworth Investment Services has urged Britons to take action.

"The first thing is to get into the discipline of saving," said the company's director Colin Jackson.

As well as looking out for ways to cut costs, Mr Jackson suggested that people set up a direct debit to move money into their savings accounts each month as it can help them resist the urge to spend.

"Once you're into the discipline it becomes part of your general overheads and as far as the money in the bank goes you just pay your savings in each month," he said.

Britons looking to reduce their costs could find that Vonage offers a suitable voice communications solution without the high phone bills.

Unlimited calls nationwide can be made for free on the VonageV-Plans, which only charge a flat monthly fee - starting at just £5.99 a month.ADNFCR-1208-ID-18390735-ADNFCR
