Winter-weary Brits flock to sunny resorts

Winter-weary Brits flock to sunny resortsNew research from Sainsbury's Finance has revealed that almost 12 million Brits plan to book a holiday between Christmas and the end of February 2008.

As temperatures in the UK look set to dip close to zero, it seems record numbers of people are forking out for beach holidays abroad - with the average family intending to spend £655 per person on their trip.

But before rushing off to book your break, Sainsbury's Finance is urging consumers to shop around for the best deals not just on flights and accommodation but also more tangential concerns.

Experts note that by subscribing to a monthly VoIP service, family members of regular travellers can take advantage of low cost calls no matter how far away their loved ones are.

"Christmas is an expensive time of year and a few pounds here and there can really mount up," uSwitch told the Telegraph. "So if you have family or friends abroad who you wish to call, plan ahead and make sure you don't miss out on savings by not shopping around."

With Vonage's V-plan 2 you can make unlimited calls to the US for just £7.99 a month and if your loved one takes their Vonage landline and adapter with them to the States they can even call home for free.ADNFCR-1208-ID-18409497-ADNFCR
