
The number of people in Europe using
VoIP services will reach 88 million by 2012, according to a new report by Infocom.
The data analyst's findings suggest that around 73 per cent of residential broadband users throughout Europe will be using
VoIP products.
Around 121 million people in Western Europe will be using broadband services by 2012, the firm also predicts.
VoIP is growing in popularity across the world, allowing people to make
cheap calls conveniently and securely.
Infocom predicts that
VoIP services will have market penetration of around 50 per cent, meaning that half of all European households will be using internet phone services.
The news follows similar studies that predict a similar rise in the use of business
VoIP services, with one study estimating that the US commercial market will be worth around $10 billion (£5 billion) by 2010.
