
A new survey has found that the number of
VoIP users in Europe had reached a record 28.9 million by the end of 2007.
The Telegeography report reveals that the European market is highly competitive and because of its diversity, there are a wide range of VoIP services available to consumers throughout continental the continent and the UK.
Research findings also suggest a number of differences in the take-up of
VoIP services across different companies, with 34 per cent of French households using the services, compared with just 11 per cent in Germany.
The survey involved sixteen countries across Europe and forms part of a
VoIP analysis which is update twice a year and provides market data from 2004 onwards, as well as offering projections for
VoIP trends through to 2012.
It follows a recent prediction by Infocom that around 73 per cent of households throughout Europe will be using
VoIP services by 2012, which amounts to nearly 88 million subscribers across the region.
