A new user poll has found that almost a third of Britons download over 40 GB of data per month.
The ISP Review study involved polling 1,485 UK broadband customers over the course of February, with the results finding that only 2.9 per cent of those included estimating that they used than less 1 GB.
When the poll was originally conducted in August 2006, 29 per cent estimated that they used more than 40 GB a month, with the new results showing a 3.8 per cent increase.
ISP Review found that while the usage levels have increased since the first study, the rise has been incremental, with browsing habits remaining largely the same.
It also suggests that while most broadband providers predict average monthly downloads at between 2 and 4 GB, only 18.5 per cent of those interviewed estimated that they used this amount.
