VoIP can improve green credentials

VoIP can improve green credentialsAdopting VoIP services as part of a business can help to boost green credentials, it has been suggested.

Speaking at the recent Voice Con 2008 convention, Dennis Schmidt, senior vice president for network services at Bank of America, told delegates that business VoIP services have helped reduce electricity outputs at the organisation and is allowing more employees to work closer to home, reducing the need for them to travel long distances to work.

Furthermore, Mr Schmidt added that VoIP services had reduced the costs of providing employees with phone services by 15 per cent on average, Computer World reports.

Meanwhile, recent commentary by Cnet News has suggested that residents living in Europe may be keener to adopt green practices than their transatlantic counterparts, with more people said to be willing to make sacrifices in order to help the environment.

This commitment contributed to the possibility of Europe becoming a pioneer in promoting green technologies, according to the resource.

Vonage's business VoIP services are specifically tailored to the needs of homeworkers and small businesses, with the V-Plan 4 available from £12.76 per month including VAT.
