On-demand proving popularThe number of people using TV-on-demand services on the internet is on the increase, new research suggests.

According to a recently published study by moneysupermarket.com, as many as one in six UK broadband users are now downloading streaming video content over the internet.

Popular services include channel 4's 4oD program and the BBC's iPlayer, Webuser notes.

Rob Barnes, head of broadband at moneysupermarket.com, is quoted on the resource, saying: "No longer have to worry about recording programmes or having to sit through reality shows. People can now create their own TV schedules as content becomes instantly available in just a few clicks."

Mr Barnes adds that such services are likely to get more popular, with exclusive content likely to be offered online to attract further viewers

High-speed broadband services allow people to take advantage of video downloads, as well as internet phone services such as that provided by Vonage.

Moneysupermarket.com has also recently suggested that the number of UK users downloading has increased significantly, with 80 per cent of Britons said to have downloaded services online in the past year.
