
More people have been choosing to shop online in the worsening economic climate, it has been suggested.
According to Shop Safe, as financial conditions tighten, a growing number of consumers are looking to save money by grabbing bargains from online retailers.
Simon Crisp, director of the company, suggests that web-based businesses are seeing an increase in sales as people look to get the most out of their budgets.
"One of the big trends with online shopping at the moment are these discount codes and vouchers," he commented, explaining that many big name companies are offering customers substantial savings using promotional codes activated online.
The industry to benefit most from the increase in online sales is fashion, he comments.
According to a report from IMRG Capgemini, online sales in February were up 46 per cent from the previous year, with a record £4.2 billion being spent online.
