Mobile communications 'future of the internet'

Mobile communications 'future of the internet'The future growth of the internet is likely to see functionality such as mobile communication become more important, it has been claimed.

Analyst Gartner explains that a move towards more transactional uses of the internet is to take place over the coming years.

Research director Elroy Jopling says: "Internet applications will mimic life - communicating, entertaining, socialising, informing, transactional, either in a fixed location or on the move."

He adds that the internet is seen by many as a "utility" to be used for communication and other purposes.

Gartner recently observed that many organisations are looking to provide VoIP solutions which are easier for the consumer to use.

The analyst suggested that the need to be able to use a system without requiring technical support is of growing importance.
