Business VoIP is rapidly becoming a key component of modern enterprises, it has been suggested.
Industry news provider ZDNet reports that many private branch exchanges are currently being converted to support
VoIP telephony.
The resource has recently published a podcast highlighting the ways in which
VoIP can complement an existing communications network.
"For many companies, the challenge now is learning exactly how to leverage
VoIP for greater visibility, management and control," ZDNet observes.
The incorporation of additional functionality such as the ability to identify the caller's location and carry traffic such as video conferencing is also suggested as spurring uptake of IP telephony.
ZDNet concludes that the potential for
VoIP services to raise productivity and decrease costs is "often overlooked".
In a recent white paper, the information resource argued that selecting the right telephony infrastructure is a "mission-critical" decision for many firms.
Unlike traditional fixed telephone line providers, Vonage has five simple plans to choose from so selecting the right one couldn't be easier.
