Cheap property and improving flight connections is make Turkey an increasingly attractive option for those looking to buy a property in the sun, it has been suggested.

Around 17,000 Brits are estimated to own a home in the country at the moment but Paul Collins, property editor of overseas property advice website BuyAssociation, predicts that it will become more popular among buyers in the year to come.

"It is one of the countries where you can get cheaper property and it’s still on the Mediterranean, so you still the benefit of the great climate and also the lifestyle in Turkey."

"There are some great opportunities and some places that are significantly cheaper than anything you’ll find in Cyprus or Greece or further west in the Mediterranean, such as in Spain or Portugal," he explained.

Mr Collins also highlighted the construction of a new airport on the south coast and an increasing number of low-cost flights on offer as two positive signs for the market, commenting: "Those are things that are all going to help improve people’s access to the country."
