Turkey tourists 'to buy holiday homes in 2009'

Turkey tourists 'to buy holiday homes in 2009'Tourists heading to Turkey this year could be next year's holiday home purchasers in the country, according to one specialist.

Confidence in the ability of Turkey to sell itself as a holiday home destination is high, with the Homesgofast website claiming property prices in the country have risen by between 15 and 20 per cent in the last 12 months.

Rhiannon Williamson, director of ShelterOffshore.com, claimed that the country now has better transport links, cheaper flights from the UK and new legislation easing the borrowing of mortgages, making it much more attractive to foreign investors.

"Some people say that this year's holidaymaker is next year's holiday home buyer, because many tourists who visit a new destination and really fall in love with it also have a strong desire to spend more time there," she said.

"This means that those who visit Turkey this year may well return to look at property for sale. With current estimates that 25 million visitors will arrive in Turkey in 2008, this does indeed bode exceptionally well for the property market in 2008/2009."

With Vonage, travellers can make cheap international calls across the globe.

The V-Plan 3 package offers free calls to 25 countries for £9.99 a month, ensuring that people heading to countries such as Turkey can keep in touch with those back in the UK.
